United Pull Off Transfer Coup!
Talented local footballers Craig Hirons and Stuart Walford have signed forms for Burnham United, the two players who spent last season at local rivals Berrow signed forms Saturday ending speculation about their plans for the forthcoming season.
Manager Plant said “I’m delighted with the signings, in my opinion they are two of the best footballers in the local area. It will also send a message out to the other players who are yet to commit their future to the club that we can mount a serious challenge to get Burnham United back into the Somerset County League Premier were we belong.
Things are definitely turning round at the club, Chairman Spencer Dibble is back and we had a really productive committee meeting on Friday, Mike Matthews was voted in as Vice Chairman and eldest of the three Lamb brothers Elliot was appointed Club Captain. Burnham are also in the process of arranging to have new wooden railings erected around the senior pitch replacing the old metal ones and matching the wooden railing which were erected on the far side of the senior pitch last year. It was also agreed that we would get someone to maintain the first team pitch on a regular basis to make a better playing surface for the players”.
Burnham United 1st have arranged the following friendly’s:
Banwell (A) July 11th 11am
Welton Rovers (H) July 25th 2pm
